Viglietti claims first gt3 win during vallelunga sprint weekend

Vallelunga hosted the second round of the Italian GT Sprint Championship from 23 to 25 May, in what turned out to be an unexpected but highly positive weekend for Vittorio Viglietti. Racing on his home track aboard the No. 22 Audi R8 GT3 of Tresor Attempto Racing, shared with Marco Cassarà, Viglietti secured his first GT3 victory by winning the AM class in Sunday’s Race 2.

The weekend began on Friday with two free practice sessions focused on understanding the car and refining the setup around the technical Vallelunga circuit. Working closely together, Viglietti and Cassarà looked for a good feeling with the Audi and tried to improve the balance of the car throughout the day in preparation for qualifying and the two sprint races.

Saturday’s qualifying sessions proved more difficult, especially for Viglietti, who struggled to find the right confidence and overall feeling with the car over a single lap. As a result, the No. 22 Audi started Race 1 from further down the grid than expected. Despite the challenging starting position, both drivers showed excellent race pace during Saturday afternoon’s contest. Through consistent lap times and strong overtaking moves, the crew recovered several positions and climbed back into the fight for the podium. After an intense race, the pair crossed the line in P4 in the AM class, missing the podium by only 0.058 seconds.

Sunday offered a new opportunity to capitalize on the potential shown throughout the weekend. Starting from P4 in class for Race 2, Cassarà completed a clean and competitive opening stint, avoiding trouble and keeping the car firmly in contention for the podium positions. Viglietti then took over for the second half of the race and immediately became involved in several close battles for both the podium and class lead. Following a series of overtakes and intense wheel-to-wheel fights, the No. 22 Audi eventually moved into the lead and held on until the checkered flag, securing an important class victory. The result marked Viglietti’s first-ever win in GT3 machinery and made the achievement even more special by coming at his home circuit of Vallelunga.

Overall, the weekend represented another important step forward in Viglietti’s development in GT3 competition, confirming both the competitiveness of the crew and the strong work carried out together with Tresor Attempto Racing throughout the event.

Big thanks to Tresor Attempto Racing, TooFastAcademy and all the sponsors supporting this 2026 season for the work done throughout the weekend. Focus now shifts to Monza, with the next round taking place in less than a month.

See you on track for the next race at Monza! 🏁
